IMS Mobile Wash - A custom web app to run every mobile-wash request.

Context

IMS Mobile Wash is a mobile vehicle-washing operation: its teams travel to clients to wash and detail vehicles on site. As the business grew, coordinating wash requests between clients, the IMS office and the drivers on the road became harder to manage with generic tools.

IMS came to us to build a custom web application, the IMS Driver app, to run that entire workflow in one place.

The challenge

A mobile wash business runs on moving parts: requests come in, they have to be understood and prioritised by the office, then dispatched to the right driver, handled on site and closed out. Spreadsheets, messages and calls do not scale: information gets lost, drivers lack a clear view of their jobs, and the office cannot see what is happening in real time.

IMS needed a single, custom-built application that models its actual process, from a request landing in the system to a driver completing it, with the office and the field always looking at the same up-to-date information.

Objectives

  • Digitise the request workflow: replace scattered tools with one system for every wash request.
  • Give drivers a clear view: a simple interface to see and handle their assigned jobs.
  • Give the office control: full request detail and management on the IMS side.
  • Build for their real process: a bespoke app shaped around how IMS actually works, not an off-the-shelf template.

Our approach, step by step

1. Mapping the request lifecycle

We started from IMS's real workflow and modelled the full lifecycle of a request, from creation to completion, so the app mirrors how the business operates rather than forcing a generic structure onto it.

2. The IMS office side

We built the office-facing side where agents can open any request, see all of its information in a clear, structured view, and process it. The office gets a single source of truth for every job.

3. The driver side

Drivers get a focused web app to consult and handle the requests assigned to them, so the person on the ground always knows what to do next, without phone calls or paperwork.

4. In-app user management

We added user management inside the app, so IMS can create and manage its own users (agents and drivers) directly, keeping the system under their control as the team changes.

5. Delivered agile, sprint by sprint

The app was built in an agile cadence, with a kickoff followed by regular sprint reviews, so IMS saw working software early and steered the priorities throughout the build.

Results

IMS Mobile Wash now runs on a web application built around its own process:

  • every wash request handled in one system instead of scattered tools;
  • a clear office view to open, read and process any request;
  • a focused driver interface for the teams in the field;
  • in-app user management that keeps IMS in control;
  • a codebase built agile and ready to grow with new features.

The result is an operational backbone that replaces manual coordination with a single, custom tool the whole team works from.

Frequently asked questions

What did JAK Solutions build for IMS Mobile Wash?

A custom web application, the IMS Driver app, that manages the full lifecycle of a wash request, with an office side for IMS agents and a focused interface for drivers.

Why build a custom app instead of using off-the-shelf software?

IMS has its own way of receiving, dispatching and completing wash requests. A bespoke web app models that exact process, instead of forcing the business to adapt to a generic tool.

How was the project delivered?

In an agile cadence: a kickoff followed by regular sprint reviews, so IMS saw working software early and could steer priorities throughout the build.
